A wonderfully dramatic start to the Mortimer Trail on a beautifully clear sunny December day. Ludlow Castle from Dinham Bridge stands stately overlooking the River Teme as the ducks and swans paddle happily on the shallow weir by Dinham Mill.
A sodden scene on Chestnut Walk but brown and green colours still vivid; the last leaves still clinging but in recent years these ancient chestnuts are succumbing one by one to autumn storms leaving stumps and strange shaped limbs protruding…
Friday December 4th
Superb day – mild for December but with a warmish sun. Parked at the Hollybush car park and walked into the woods below Ragged Stone Hill, skirting the bottom of the hill with superb views east to Bredon Hill and the Severn Valley.
